Spring cleaning / Deep cleaning my house doesn’t even cross my mind ever until the clocks go forward in the middle of March. This is when I start emerging from my winter cave (so to speak) and realize that the basic cleaning routine I go through every week is mostly just scratching the surface plus I can proudly say I went tow ork and came back home while it was still light, love that feeling!
Anyway, Spring cleaning is a tradition that allows us to freshen up our homes and get a head start on the hectic seasons of spring and summer. If you have ever watched Channel 4 programme, ” The hoarder next door” you will realise how serious clutter can become. One of the biggest parts of spring cleaning is getting rid of clutter that you don’t need. A good policy is, if you havent used it for a few months get rid of it. Seasonal products could be exempted e.g. winter jackets as you will need them come the cold season. Anyway, spring is a good time to get rid of used stuff items that are weighing you down and begin fresh with a more streamlined lifestyle.

Clean one room at a time

I tend to work up down i.e. Since I live in a two up two down, my bedrooms will be the first casulties and head toward the back door where I finish with my kitchen. For example, since I am always working 2 out of 4 weekends every month, the spare weekends in spring I find myself itchying to keep busy and as a result, what better than start tidying up the kids room amd mine. In other words, approaching your house room-by-room is the most effective way to deep-clean your home at any time of the year, but especially in spring. My two young boys are always happy to join as to them its a chance to make a mess! Plus they get a chance to visit the tip and see tractors crushing stuff.

Once the clutter has been removed it’s green lights to get scrubbing. However, before you do this it’s best to have a plan of action and having a check list is always a good start.
